screen: "Hedy Lamarr and Joe Sce-
pink in "Lady of the Topics," is the
way it appears to Joe; but Sadie
sees "Sadie Blotz and Robert Tay-
lor .
And so it goes all through the per-
formance. Joe is in the process of
being amorous with Hedy Lamarr,
while Sadie is enjoying enthralling
adventures with Robert Taylor.
After the performance is over,
however,tJoe and Sadie are liable
to be a bit dissatisfied with one an-
other unless a second feature is =
shown. It features Boris Karloff
and Edna May Oliver in "The Execu-
tioner" or "Chop, Chop, Chop; Well
All Right." After co-starring with
Karloff and Oliver respectively, Sa-
die and Joe are quite contented with
each other once more.
Great advances have also been
made in the art of the drama. Those
who love the " thawter" have often
experienced the agony of sitting be-
hind a pillar throughout the entire
performance or attending the open-
ing night of an insufferably dull show
which folds up the next day. TheI-
two great strides in the modern dray-
ma have attempted to clear up these
points:
(1) All seats in the theatre of Jay-
hopmania are box seats, with a big
hollow pit where the audience form-
erly sat.
(2) All theatres are compelled to
tell the truth in their advertising and
on marquee. For instance, a typi-
cal newspaper ad for a play would
read something like this:
"Definitely a lousy show
don't see it."
