ADELPHI AND JEFFERSONIANS
DEBATE SATURDAY FOR CUP
The last of a series of cup debates
between the Adelphi and Jeffersonian
debating societies for possession of
the Detroit alumni cup will be held at
8 o'clock Saturday evening in Uni-
versity Hall. If the Adelphi win this
debate it means permanent possession
of the cup for this society.
CONTEST TRYOUTS TO MEET
IN WATERMAN GYM TODAY
Prospective contestants for the tug-
of-war will weigh in between 1 and 3
o'clock today in the main office of
Waterman gymnasium. Tryouts for
the relay races will be held tomor-
row afternoon in the gymnasium. All
men should bring tennis shoes.
Training for Indiana Summer Students
Bloomington, Ind., May 10.-Courses
in military training similar to those
now being given to regular students
will be offered to students in the sum-
mer session.
Senior Dents Banquet at Statler
The senor dents banqueted at the
Statler hotel in Detroit, Wednesday
night after they had been shown
through the establishment of the
Parke, Davis company.
Muskigum for Compulsory Drill
New Concord, ., Mayh10.-Students
of Muskigum college have voted for
compulsory military training for all
male students of the college who are
physically able to drij.
Cornell Best School for Training
Ithaca, N. Y., May 10.-Following an
inspection of Cornell's branch of the
reserve officers' training corps, Cap-
tain K D. Powers, the government
representative, paid the highest trib-
ute to the efficiency of the corps. "Cor-
nell is by far the best educational in-
stitution for the training of college
cadets among those I have inspected
in the east," said Captain Powers.
Twenty Americans Held in Turkey
Washington, May 10.-Twenty Amer-
icans are being held by Turkish au-
thorities in Constantinople. A dis-
patch from the American ambassador
reached the state department today
stating that Americans of military
age had not been permitted to depart.
The ambassador is exerting every ef-
fort to secure permission for them to
leave.
