Liberty St. The local branches of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Institute of Electrical Engineers are making preparations for a record-breaking year and the of- ficers, in order to secure more mem- bers, desire to point out to the upper- class engineers the advantages of joining these organizations while in the university. The regular initiation fee for the A. S. M. E. is 10 dollars and the yearly dues are five dollars., A num- ber of references are also required which it is often difficult for a man just out of school to obtain. By join- ing the University of Michigan En- gineering society branch the dues are but three dollars a year and this rate is good for three years. There is no initiation fee and the member receives the A. S. M. E. Journal, a monthly report of the latest engineering news and research, as well as the Michigan Technic while in school. At the end of the three years he automatically becomes a .member of the general so- ciety without the payment of any initiation fee. The A. I. E. E. also requires refer- ences and a. high initiation fee, be- sides a higher annual fee. A student member may belong for four dollars a year, which includes a year's sub- scription to the Technic. This rate is also good for three years and at the end of this time the student may be- come a member of the general society without any initiation fee. FORMER DAILY MAN GUEST IN ANN ARBOR YESTERDAY Harry Coleman, former business manager of The Michigan Daily in '97, was a guest yesterday noon at the Chi Psi fraternity. When Mr. Cole- man was on The Daily, the paper had it offices on Main street, near the Whitney theater, and had a circula- tion of about 600. The enrollment of the university was then about 1,400. After leaving Ann Arbor, Mr. Cole- man became an active worker on the Pontiac Daily and finally owner of the paper. A little over three years ago the paper was sold and the former owner is now retired. Leave your film at the Delta. oct3 to 29 Bath supplies, Lab.-Aprons and waiter's coats.
