VILLA'S MEN__KILL AMERICAN Refugees D~escribe Death of M~iner at Parral Mouth Ago By Webb MIer (United Press Staff Correspondent.) El Paso, Dec. 7.-Howard Gray, an' American employee of the Alvaredo Mining company, was shot down and later hanged by Villistas when the bandits entered Parral a month ago, according to word brought here to- day by two mining men. While the two men were telling their story of the death of Gray in the office of the Alvaredo company here, a telegram from the native foreman of the coin- pany's niine at Parral reached the of- fice. The message read : "Everything safe except Gray. He is dead." Mining company officials accepted it as authentic and as corroborating the refugees' story. Gray was acting fore- man of the American owned Alvaredo properties. "Gray was at a ranch house a few miles outside Parral," the refugees told mining mein here. "He was eating supper when a band of Villistas sent to get him approached and rapped on the door. As he opened the door a v'olley of shots literally riddled him. "There w~as still life, so the bandits took the body, hanged it and muti- lated it."
