In fact, along toward the conclusion of the third quarter some of the officials suspected that Wray was growing just a trifle too zealous in his efforts to check the Michigan attack and he was requested to absent himself from the scene of turmoil and strife. He complied. Peach played an excellent game for the Wolverines while he was in, and he was given a big hand when he re- tired. Peach was in poor shape when the game began, and played on his nerve. The crowd was rumored to be around 29,000, but the exact statistics could not be learned. It was one of the largest turnouts ever seen on Ferry field. The rooters saw two elevens that were about as evenly matched as two teams could be, and although Michigan was walloped, she went down fighting and fighting hard. Both teams showed all kinds of defensive strength after that first spasm and forward passing was about as popular as it has ever been on Ferry field. Pennsy used the short variety with Michigan trying the long ones. Penn got away kwith a few but they were harmless. Lineup: Michigan. Pennsylvania. To Test Various fakes of A u os Prof. W. T. Fishleigh and Mr. W. E. Lay, of Engineering Faculty to Make Trials Car performance tests will be begun on Monday by the Society of Automo- bile Engineers at the Sheepshead Bay track, New York, under the supervis- ion of Prof. W. T. Fisleigh and Mr. W. E. Lay, of the engineering college. The apparatus used to carry out these trials will be the same as that used in the local automobile laboratory. The tests will be made in the pres- ence of engineers and officials of the Society of Automobile Engineers, and in accordance with the rules and reg- ulations formulated by this society. If the results obtained are satisfactory, every make of car will be subjected to the same trials, and the data pub- lished. The buying public can then compare the performance of the var- ious cars, and even non-technically trained men will be able to be judic- ious in their automobile buying. The first cars to be tested will be a Packard "twin six" and a Marmon "six." They will be tried for speed, range, acceleratipn, and fuel economy. Sfscial automatic Biel measuring tanks are installed on tht, cars to ob- tain accurate results in the fuel tests. These tanks an~d all the other devices to be used in the tri als have been de- . veloped by the automobile engineering department's research squad. Inasmuch ao the appartus of the engineering college is, the first and only one of its kind to be developed in this country, all future trials will be made with similar devices. Un- doubtedly the majority of manufactur- ers, universities, and clubs will con- duct research work of their own, if the present experiment in New York turns out satisfactorily, and hence these ARCADE Shows at 3:00; 6:30; 8:00; 9:30 ioc Unless Otherwise Specified. The ball was in the middle of the field and all our prayers were of no avail. Our team simply couldn't push it toward their goal again, but then Pennsy didn't do much either. Maybe they were too mad. The whistle blew before anything more happened of any consequence. - , But it would have been a great game if the ball hadn't been in our part of the field so much during the first quar- ter and so allowed them to make those ten points of theirs.
