This tem- porary building is formed by uniting the old Pond residence and the dance hall which stood at the back of the old Union and makes a much more com- fortable home for the students. In the portion which was formerly the old Pond residence lounging quar- ters for the men are established and the reading racks and cigar stand, the feature of the old Union office, are now in use. Back of this main room are found cloak rooms and lava- tories. The whole is newly finished and decorated, forming a pleasing place to spend an afternoon or even- ing. On the right as one enters the build- ing is found the office of the president and a short corridor leads to the dance hall. This has been fixed over, the main improvement. being that the music for dances will be given from an alcove on the right of the room and not from the elevated platform at the front of the hall as formerly. The ladies' dressing rooms are placed back of the short entrance hall so that one can pass directly from them into the dance hall. These are all fitted with new equipment. Upstairs are the men's cloak rooms and offices for the general secretary. These are all refitted and form a pleasing contrast to the somewhat dingy quarters occupied in the old home. Downstairs the improvements are easily seen. There are three dining rooms instead of two. Two of these are for general use while the third, which has been panelled and beamed off so as to give more privacy to the diners, will be used for large ban- quets. The number that can be ac- commodated at meals has been doubl- ed. The kitchen has been increased in size and a pastry chef has been added to the list. In accordance with its custom of former years the Union will serve dinners to ladies Saturday nights and Sunday noon and nights. * It will be open to members for breakfast, dinner, and luncheon every day. The new outdoor track feature which was constructed last year will be used extensively this year in connection with the physical training. The apparatus for the new gym will be purchased as needed upon the ad- vice of =Dr. May. Basketball and other games will prove bigger features this year than before.
