With the sun shining down on Ferry
Field, Coach Farrell had his entire:
squad out for a stiff workout yester-
day afternoon. The athletes showed
more pep in the practice session than
at any time this year.
A new trackster put in his appear-
ance during the afternoon. Kapp is
the addition, and from the way he wasj
leaping in the broad jump in hisI
initial tryout, he is sure to prove a
valuable member of the team.
Buell Look God
Steve gave Buell a thorough work-
out yesterday in the half mile. Buell
seems to be the most likely candidate
to take the place of Charley Stoll,
that Coach Farrell has on the squad,
and will probably be the track men-
tor's choice to represent the Wolve-
rines in the dual meet with Notre
Dame. Buell was on the cross coun-
try team last fall, while during the '
winter months and since the outdoor
season started he has been trying out
for the mile. Coach Farrell, however,
thinks that the long distances 11
well taken care of by Captain Don-
nelly and Sedgwick, and believes that
he will be able to change Buell into
a successor of StoL
Kruger Leaves Saturday
Kruger who won his "AMA" by his
showing during the past indoor sea-
son, leaves Saturday for Camp Meade,
making the fourth man Steve has lost
in the last several weeks. Kruger
is a quarter miler, and ran on the
one mile indoor relay team which
finished second at the Conference meet
held at Northwestern in March. Coach
Farrell has been trying him out in
the half mile since Stoll left.
Baker has been working out daily
in the javelin and discus throws, be-
sides the shot put. ' He is improving
steadily, and in the new javelin event,
and is beginning to throw the missile
as if he was a veteran at it. Several
javelins have been broken in the prac-
tices, and Steve is worrying that he
will run out of his supply.
