Questionnaires are being distri- bited to the students at the' engineer- ing assemblies, and an explanation of the proposed plan has been made by Dean Mortimer E. Cooley. The blanks ask the. following questions: 1. To make the military and indus- trial forces of the United States more speedily effective, do you wish to shorten the usual summer vacation periods at college and make your training as nearly continuous as prac- tible? 2. If you wish to attend 12 weeks' session this summer and find it im- practiblet, state your reasons. 3. If you can attend the summer' session and wish arrangements made for you, state so definitely. 4. Namne the courses which you could elect this snummer if they were offered. 5. More ,than enough has already been said through' the pages of The Daily as to the merit of this year's opera, especially' as to the part taken by girls in the production. Yesterday's article seem- ed particularly out of place coming at' this time. It is hard to tell what purpose moti- vated the senior engineer in writing this piece, unless it was a desire to set himself up as the ultimate critic of the opera, in which case he seems to have failed lamentably. Why this manshouldestate specifically that the chorus or the opera as a whole was poorer than in past years is hard to explain. I am sure that if he has any sug- gestions to make for the betterment of the opera before it goes on the spring trip, the proper officials of the Michigan Union will be glad to lend him a willing ear.
