Two more were scheduled, but were postponed until next Wednesday. The single lightweight contest of the afternoon resulted in a victory for J.. C. McClure, company I, First regiment, over R. L. Stuart, '21. The match was nip and tuck throughout and decision was not reached until 11 minutes had elapsed. The fall was secured with a half nelson. - In a middleweight match R. H. 1 Jones, company A, Second regiment, conquered W. Schmidt, '21E, in com- paratively easy fashion after two mit-R utes and 45 seconds, with a half nel- son. In another contest of this class J. E. Whitlow, '21M, defeated A. D. Scholl, company I, Second regiment,; in three minutes and five seconds. A scissors hold secured the fall. There were two welterweight match- es, one of which was very evenly fought, while the other was rather one-sided. J. E. Whitlow, '21M, had little trouble in disposing of W., J. Davies, '19, in two minutes and 15 seconds. He turned thetrick by means of a body scis ors. On the other hand M. H. Ayers, company I, Second regiment, and F. C. Carl, Head- quarters company, were so evenly matched that no fall was secured. However, the decision favored the former at the end of 10 minutes. Quite a large crowd turned out to witness the matches and cheer their favorites on. The semi-finals will be held next Wednesday afternoon, at which time about a half dozen con- tests will take place. We can just see them apply- ing their little Dorine through their masks, and spitting on their cute kid gloves. It is rumored that there is some conflict as both the Delta Beta Pis and the Chi Pi Phis want to wear the same kind of green and pink striped wool socks, which of course, would make them all look alike from our point of view. We can imagine them blotting their dripping brows with their creepy de chiny hankies and sipping strong Orange Pekoe between innings. Even now we have a vision of Annabelle Dirty Neck as she swaggers up to bat, arranges her spit curles, gives her wrist watch to the base umpire, and dusts off the plate with her new East- er creation. It is supposed that a great crowd will attend the opening ,.game which comes off some time next week. We are applying for the posi- tion of umpire-farewell.
