Your Income Tax
Has To Be Paid
Somebody is going to tell on you
if you don't pay your income tax.
Congress has fixed it so that somebody
must tell, whether he wants to or not.
One section of the war income tax
law, exhaustively comprehensive in
scope, requires every person without
exception ,and every corporation, part-
nership, association, and insurance
company, in whatever acting capactiy,
who paid $800 or more to another per-
son, corporation, partnership, associa-
tion, or insurance company, in what-
ever capacity acting, as rent, salaries;
wages, premiums, and so forth, to re-
port the name and address of the per-
son, corporation, etc., to whom the
payment was made, together with the
amount of the payment, to the com-
missioner of internal revenue at Wash-
ington, on specially prepared forms-
number 1,099, now to be had from all
collector's offlces.
So don't think you can get away
from it, for Uncle Sam has his eye on
you.

WILSON ORDERS IMMEDIATE
INVESTIGATION OF SHIPYARDS
Washington, Feb. 14.-Investigation
by the department of justice of the
construction of the government's big
fabricating steel shipyard at Hog Is-
land, Pa., was ordered today by Pres-
ident Wilson with a view to criminal
prosecutions if the facts show more'
than reckless expenditure of govern-
ment money.
At the same time Chairman Hurley
of the shipping board who had re-
quested the move, indicated that the
contracts for building the yards and!
ships, involving many millions of dol-
lars, might 'be cancelled. This was
taken to mean that the government
might take over the yard.
Charges of mismanagement in a
reckless spending of government funds
at Hog Island have been made freely
before the senate committee. Wit-
nesses have testified that the yardI
may cost twice the sum of $21,000,000
carried in original estimates.
