Both men were prominent athletics at the University, and rumors had it that they were rejected a few weeks ago as physical- ly unfit, Ward Culver hails from Detroit Michigan and played on the Detroit Central High School football team for four years and was captain of the ,team in 1915 when the Centrals were the champions of the state.I Coming to Michigan in'the fall, Ward appear-a ed for the All-fresh team and soon won a regular berth on Coach MeGin- nis' team. The supper will be followed by a cotillion, as ,usual, given by the department of phpsical training for women. The Women's Athletic association, which is managing the event, is open- ing contests for class and college songs, awards for which will be made at the banquet. A loving cup is to be given to the class receiving the greatest number of points for the num- her of the members present, the best: songs and the teams giving the best stunt. The cup was awarded for the first time last year, the senior class receiving it.. The cotillion will begin promptly at 8 o'clock. Not much money will be; put into favors on account of war con- ditions, but the plans being laid for entertainment are fully equal to those of past.years. Tickets for the banquet may be ob- tained for 40 cents from members of} the athletic committee. It is hoped that all members of the Athletic as- sociation, and any other University' women who are interested, will show their support of the association by their presence.
