BUT TWO MEETS ARRANGEI) FOR VARSITY TRACK TEAM; BOTH AT CHICAGO Michigan's baseball team will play 11 Conference games next spring and the Varsity track team will hook up in two dual meets, one indoors and one on the cinder track, accord- ing to the schedules just made by P. G. Bartelme in Chicago. Both of the track meets which the Wolverines will enter are with Chi- cago and will be held in the Windy City. The indoor meet comes March 16 and the outdoor competition will be held May 25. No other meets have been arranged as yet, but it is be- lieved that Farrell's men will also enter the Conference field meet to be held some time next spring. Whether Bartelme will secure oth- er dual meets or not is unknown at the present time. It is understood that the Michigan athletic manager is trying to secure a couple more in- door meets and at least one more race outdoors. The Wolverine tracksters will have plenty of work, though, in downing the Maroon team twice in Chicago. Season Opens April 15 The baseball season with Conference nines opens April 15 when Lundgren's men will travel to Bloomington to meet the Indiana ball tossers. On May 3 and 4 Chicago will play the Wolverines on Ferry field, the third contest of the series being played at Chicago on May 25. Six of the 11 games are to be played here while one game will be staged in each of the following places: Bloom- ington (Indiana); Chicago, (Chicago); Iowa City (Iowa); Columbus, (Ohio); and Urbana (Illinois)., There are many opportunities for games with other schools and the con- tests usually played with Cornell, Penn., M. A. C., and.Kalamazoo college will doubtless be held. It is expect.. ed that the annual tilts with Pennsyl- vania at Commencement time will be played as usual. Wienii, Weston, Sparks, and Rye Pass Final Exams for Aerial Service Wieman, Weston, Sparks and Rye four of the letter winners of the 1917 football- team expected back next fall, were accepted in the aviation corps Saturday and will leave within a few weeks for a training camp. All four of the men entered their applications some time ago and were called in for a final axamination last week end. They passed the tests, which are very heavy for this branch of the service, with flying colors, and all were enlisted at once. Wieman, who is elected captain for the 1918 eleven, will leave for his home in California some time today and will not return after the holidays. He does not expect to be called until the middle of January and will stay at home until he is summoned for service. The plans of the others have not been made known yet, but Sparks re- turned to his home in Jackson Satur- day. None of the men are expected back in school after Christmas. Patronize Our Advertsers.-Adv. x S .t Some questions have arisen con- cerning the ineligibility of Lam- bert, Varsity center, for the Northwestern game last Novem- ber. It has been said that the star pivot man was down in his studies. To clear up the situa- tion, it should be said that, Lam- bert was kept from the Purple tilt because he had played his limit of football under' the Con- ference rules. Lambert is far from being behind in his studies. * * * * * * * * * * * * * 4 '.ry A' 'f.JfL / jill/I' , . H [I~i - a 1,1 __, r..r1- ,}- Michigan State Telephone J. 1.
