Editor, The Michigan Daily: In your issue of Dec. 6, some mem.- ber of your staff, with . a perverted sense of humor, was guilty of what might mildly be characterized as a breach of gooi taste. I refer to the so- called "All-American" football team on which the position of center was assigned to "Windy (City) Coach Stagg." In the account following, the idea is sought to be conveyed that Mr. Stagg is entitled to some such re- cognition because of his attitude on a Michigan-Chicago post-season game. Those who are in a position to know realize fully that the University of Michigan athletically and otherwise has very few warmer friends among the non-alumni than Mr. Stagg, and any intimation that he has been in any way responsible for any break or hitch in any existing or contemplated' athletic relationship is grossly false. Whatever may be the feeling on the part of The Daily as -to an apology, I wish to take this opportunity of ex- pressing to Mr. Stagg through the columns of The Daily, the regret of{ the athletic office that any Michigan; student should have been guilty of such bad taste.
