Michigan Should Use Service Flags More extensive use of the service flags throughout Michigan is being urged by the Women's defense com- mittee. Hundreds of homes in the state are sending from one to six men to serve their country. One of the flags of red, white and blue, with a star for each man from the home who is in service, is desirable. SAUNDERS' CANOE LIVERY y Theat Friday 4' s To, mexr country at war, it wim 11 be found that no calling, profession, or business can show a higher per- centage than the press of the nation. The large city dailies with their tre- mendous circulations, and the small local weeklies that penetrate into the humblest homes of the dwellers in villages and on farms alike are devot- ing their talents, energies, and space to the case of the government. All of this is as it should be. The press of the land normally thinks in advance of the public whom it serves. The papers were merely thinking too far in advapce of the masses, and the people will recognize tneir assiniti in a year or two. The world of journalism has seen the call for unpre- cedent giving in our present crisis. It will soon be clear to all of us that the winning of the war occasions a sacrifice from all of us. If there is any one who has not felt the cuts of war even already, he may know that he is playing the part of the slacker. -Daily Iowan.
