Sacco now has refused all food since supper Saturday night, while Van- zetti's only nourishment has been an occasional cup of coffee. In the absence of any direct state- ment from the two condemned. men concerning the duration and the cause of the huger strike, the Sacco-Van- zettthdefense committee and prison officials are the sources of conflict- ing information on the subject. The committee stated Saturday, night that Vanzetti was planning aI hunger strike in protest over the manner in which Governor Fuller is conducting his investigation of their case since they were sentenced to! death for murder. Prison officials, until the weather moderated today, have attributed their refusal of food! to the week-long hot spell.
