14 The Michigan Daily - Wtdce., 4ci - Thursday, November 9, 1995 IN MEMORIAM: YITZHAK RABIN 1922-1995 The assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin on Saturday afternoon was a devastating loss to the Jewish community. While most Jews in America are far removed from the implications of Israeli politics, they are by no means removed from the idea of a worldwide Jewish community. While the memorial service at Temple Beth Emeth was packed, the Diag vigil drew only a few hundred mourners. Both ceremonies represented only a small portion of the Ann Arbor Jewish {| community, and may foreshadow a division among Jews throughout the world. As one of the only black mourners attending the service, Mary is an indication of Rabin's progress for peace. PHOTOSTORY BY MARK FRIEDMAN i
