Cross Street Station
511 W. Cross St., Ypsilanti
485-5050
This popular watering hole just off
of EMU campus would actually be
pretty cool if they could figure out
how to build a stage. Thed18 and over
age limit generally attracts more mu-
sic listeners than beer drinkers and

provides for a pretty hip music envi-
ronment, but the sideways stage al-
lows practically no room for large
crowds to get down. Go catch shows
there, but be willing to get very
friendly with your neighbor.
Crow Bar
309 S. Main
668-0111
This one hasn't opened yet, but any
new club in Ann Arbor specializing in
live music is definitely good news.
The Green Room
206 W. Michigan, Ypsilanti

Kind of an underground juice bar.
A trendy atmosphere, but this punk
playground offers several benefits.
Most importantly, it's all-ages, an at-
tribute that no other club in the area
can claim.
Heidelberg
215 N. Main
663-7758
Ann Arbor's mighty Heidelberg
seems to have stood forever. Too bad
they haven't had any musicians under
30 in almost as long.
Leonardo's
North Campus Commons

A wonderful place to chill out and
catch some live jazz, whether it be a
school of music student combo or a
touring pro act. One of the best study
spots on campus. And no cover!
Rick's American Cafe
611 Church St.
996-2747
Come party with the frat boys at
Ann Arbor's biggest meat market!

the better local bands.
The Tap Room

sionally host Blues bands.

Lodge, stay in the right lane and get off

313-961-MELT
The Shelter is in the bowels of St.
Andrew's Hall, and to get inside, you
simply need to go in back of the venue

that are on the cutting edge of alterna-
tive rock, and some good bands too.
Usually just people who aren't big
