Within the next month of practice, Wolverine coach Ron Warhurst will decide whether MacDonald will race or be redshirted for the fall. Last year, MacDonald, Michigan's No.2 runner behind juniorKevin Sullivan, was fourth in both the Big Ten and NCAA district championship meets and placed 29th in the NCAA national meet. This isn't the first time that MacDonald has had to deal with injury. Last year, he had surgery on his knee to remove calcium deposits and was redshirted for the indoor track season.
