Once upon a time in a place where all those who come will never forget, a new general brought
his troops to battle a southern battalion from Virginia. The new general was outmatched early. The
southern battalion countered his moves quickly and fiercely. The battle seemed over, the fate
decided - the Wolverines had fallen.
Yet on this day the new general had requested reinforcements from Houston and a small town
in Indiana. Word was they were sending a new captain, Dreisbach; a fearless leader who would
fight alone if those around him fell. They were also sending a bright young scout who could outrun
fear, and tip-toe through pressure. But still the Wolverines seemed done. The final bomb had been
set, the Wolverines were sure to fall. General Carr sent his young scout to retrieve the bomb before
certain destruction. Heavily bandaged, Hayes tip-toed through the field, and caressed the bomb
into his heavily bandaged arms. The Wolverines would not fall on this day.
