no morning classes - and for
those who decide to sleep through,
them.
The pleasant atmosphere is 1
enhanced by tasteful art, and +
varied seating styles meet the +
needs of large groups and those +
intimate dorm lunches alike.
East Quad has its little lunch
time perks which an informed
cafeteria gourmand can spot.
Chocolate sauce is provided to
supplement the often bland soft-
serve ice cream. As well, East
Quad has a juice machine - an
uncommon feature in dorm cafds.
(South Quad had one last year,
but it has been defunct since
September.) Henry, a pineapple
addict, liked East Quad's version
of this exotic fruit, even though it
was canned.
A sporadic and flexible eater
will do well in East Quad. Those
of you who like square, all-
American meals should look
elsewhere.
West Quad
While West Quad's food was
more consistent - if not better -
than other residence halls', the
atmosphere receives mixed
reviews.
The chicken patties - a safe
bet at any dorm - were very good
here as well. The sandwich was
supplemented by a "chicken
patty bar" which had plenty of
fixings, including fresh, green
lettuce, tomatoes and ketchup.
West Quad's salad bar is also
well-stocked, fresh, and green. It
holds two of Bethany's favorite
condiments, feta cheese and
olives. And West Quad offers the
same breakfast service as East
Quad.
Unfortunately, the art and the
music were far more cheezy than

the supposed macaroni and
cheese.
Logistically, West Quad has a
very convoluted setup. One must
dodge various salad bars, milk
machines, and passers-by to get to
the entr6e line. This obstacle
course might take too much
concentration for the diner whose
only concerns are getting a quick
lunch and a solitary space at a
table.
West Quad's unique family-
style tables receive mixed reviews.
Being the semi-hermit that he is,
Henry was appalled by the long
tables, which he sees as an
invasion of privacy. Indeed,
family-style tables do not allow
for a quiet, private conversation,
or a browse through the daily
paper.
This point was proven when
an overly friendly staffer sat
down with us. He opened his
lunch, and began to talk to us
about a 103 lb. salmon, and the
prospect of our obtaining a
summer job moving very heavy
furniture. This just about ruined
Henry's chicken patty.
Bethany, on the other hand,
sees this dining set-up as a good
opportunity to meet interesting
people whom you normally
wouldn't. She also sees this
arrangement as beneficial for
first- or second-year students who
are, as of yet, too insecure to
venture into a cafeteria without
25 of their closest friends.
Lunchers can find a good meal'
- and plenty of good company -
at West Quad's finest dining
establishment.

Continued from page 4
Thousands of years ago when
humans were first developing,
individuals who had an
abundance of adrenaline and
expressed anger had an advantage
over others who didn't. In the
world of survival of the fittest,
the enraged mother who killed
tigers to protect her children or
the man who sprinted two miles
to outrun a bear had an advantage
over others who didn't have the
ability. The stress hormones that

allow someone to quickly react
are the same ones released during
an angry fit, and those who had
more stress hormones survived
while the others perished.
But in our highly-technical
world, these stress hormones are
becoming less and less important.
The people who have the
uncanny ability to not get angry
have an advantage when arguing
with a boss or professor.
"Suppressed anger might be a
surviving or adaptive mechanism
in certain situations," Dr. Julius
said. And if the situation calls for
