Board Leader U-M students are providing help to the community in a variety of service projects. Following are a sample of some activities the Trained Volunteer Corps (TVC) participates in this semester. In the Adult Literacy Project some students work one-to-one with inmates of the Milan Federal Corrections facility, tutoring them in reading or adult education courses. Others tutor students in Ann Arbor Adult Education classes, helping them gain skills they need to make important changes in their lives. In the Youth at Risk Project some students work one-to-one with needy youngsters through the Willow Run Mentor Program while others prepare and lead sports activities, games, and crafts with the Boys and Girls Club. Students have commented the youths are often lonely and looking for a friend and spending time with them weekly is a bright spot for the volunteer as well as the child. fl Project S.E.R.V.E. is a U-M organization dedicated to increasing n student involvement in community service. The S.E.R.V.E. Board or- ganizes all of S.E.R.V.E.'s programs including the Volunteer Fair, Into the Streets, Service Spring Break, and S.E.R.V.E. Week. In addition, the Board works closely with the director of Project S.E.R.V.E. to determine the overall direction of the organization.
