He set a new McCaffree Pool record with a 2:01.28 performance in the 200-yard breaststroke, breaking the old mark by over three seconds. He also swam the breaststroke leg of the winning 400-yard medley relay and earned third place in the 200 individual medley. BACKGROUND: Was named Swimmer of the Year in 1989 and 1990 by U.S. Swimming. Holds the world record in the 200-meter breaststroke.
