It is the only spokes- man of the students, and if it neglects to champion their cause the students have no recourse. I would not say, that The Wolverine should be hasty nor rash, but we do need sane, straightforward investigation like this. In my opinion the next field in which The Wolverine can be of service is in regard to. the high prices of food- both in boarding houses and restaur- ants. I think the prices there are en- tirely too high. V. E. CROSSLEY, '21L. Editor, The Wolverine: I am enclosing a card received from the Porto Rico chapter of the alumni of the Universidad de Michigan. It may interest the student body to know that probabl* the only alumni body thatf amounts to anything in Porto Rico, is the alumni of the University of Mich- igan-a very active group. The enclosed card announces a re- union for July 24. The most import- ant men in the island are Michigan men, e.g., Act. Gov. Benedicto Barbosa, who is leader of the Republican and probably the most importai there, and the leading physicia from Ann Arbor. S. PAUL EPSTEIN, SECRETARY SmITH TO LEA FOR TWO WEEKS' VAC. Duke Dunne will lead Michigan's gridiron machine from guard. Dunne C has had three years of college compe- tition under Yost, and is one of the, most capable guards in the Middle West. Duke is a fighter front start tO finish, and' can play nearly any line position. He was started at end, where he played a stellar game for two years until h6 was shifted to al guard position. At guard Duke broke Eup many of the opposing teams' plays. . educated toes and are fast. It will be interesting to see these men in ac- tion when Michigan meets Wisconsin. Illinois will be led by Halfback Laurie Walquist. Rumor has it, how- ever, that the Indian captain may di- rect his team from the quarterback position this year unless some of the sophomores are groomed to fill the vacancy left by Fletcher.. Walquist has demonstrated his ability to carry the ball and his headwork has 'made him a likely selection for quarter in case Zuppke's youngsters fail to per- form properly. 'I Summer Carry McGuire at Chicago it Chicago, Charles McGuire will run the Maroon team from a tackle position. McGuire was, with Jackson, ine of the main cogs in the great de-1 fense which the Midway team pre- sented last year. With a team lacking any high class offensive players, Stagg devoted his whole time to de- veloping a strong defense. In the construction of this defense, which was always in evidence, McGuire earn- ed the recognition which has marked him as one of the leading tackles. Hathaway a Center Jack Hathaway, who starred at cen- ter last season for Northwestern, will be captain of the Purple. Although not as brilliant as some other centers in the Conference, Hathaway has gain-. ed the wholesome respect of all of the opposing teams because of hard steady playing. He was one the play-. ers who was instrumental in the ini- tial downfall of Minnesota last year when the odds all favored the big Gopher team. Teeberg Leads Gophers At Minnesota / Dr. Williams will have Laurence Teeberg at tackle to lead the Gophers in 'their comeback which is planned for this year. Tee- berg played a neat game last fall, but due to injury and ineligibility the Minnesota eleven, doped to finish high, failed to win a single Confer- ence contest.- With Teeerg back, to- gether with a large- squad who have cleared up all scholastic difficulties, D-r. Williams should develop a real contender this fall. Purdue under its new coach, 'Wil- liam Dietz, and with Zeb Carman at tackle for its leader, should .exper- ence a more successful season than it has for the past few years. Under Coach Scanlon, the Boilermakers were unable to break into the Conference winning column.. With a new coach and an abundance of material the Old Gold and Black is optimistic over its chances fors1921. M~yers ellads Buekey"s Ohio State, last year's champions, will be led by Captain Truck Myers from the end position. Myers is the player who, in the last second play against Illinois, pulled down the pass that resulted in a touchdown and a championship for the Buckeyes last fall. If Dr. Wilce again builds his of- fense upon the pass, Myers will be a marked player in the contests -this year. Devine Pilot at Iowa Aubery Devine, All-western quarter on Eckersall's team, will lead the Iowa eleven this year, from the quar- te'back position. Devine is a brilliant all around player. He can carry the ball and is deadly accurate with a pass. Coach Howard Jones will have enough veterans back to be certain of a powerful eleven. The vHawkeyes will . clash with Notre Dame Oct. 8, and a week later meet Zuppke's men at Iowa City. Inidiana university will have s its football captain John Kyle, fullback. Coach Stiehm is placing much con- fidence in his backfield for the com- ing year and Kyle is slated to play a major part in its success. The Hoo- sier eleven will journey to Cam- bridge for a game with Harvard Oct. }% tdtllllElllIIIIIIIIIEIIIIIH IIEIIt11111111il1111ltlillltlll#t!{!Itlftlllilllltllillliilill{IIt11111111E11lIti11111EN Iillltl } :tllillpllllll# Iltllll111f iliH f111lI1[tii11ll illillllt~llllllll111[111 11111It1111 1 11t11111 It11111---- 111111I1111i111111111111111111111 ---- HAVE YOU SEEN " THE JUVENILE FOLLIES?
