Lents is tal The Screen AT THE ARCADE Bessie Barriscale, who has been taking the roles of the neglected wife, casts aside for a time the demure air of a stay-at-home, and emerges as the beautiful leader of the smart set in her latest picture, "The Notorious Mrs. Sands," which will have its final pres- entation at the Arcade today. This picture is adapted from an, original story by M. B. Havey. It has for its theme the sacrifice of a beau- tiful young girl who marries a wealthy man old enough' to be her father, in order to aid her mother in paying off her debts.- The story abounds in an unusual number of tense dramatic situations, and the role of Mrs. Sands is one which affords Miss Barriscale an opportunity to display her versatility and dramatic ability. Tomorrow and Saturday the Arcade has secured return dates on "Dan- gerous- to Men," featuring Viola Dana. In this picture, which pleased large audiences when first presented at the Arcade, Miss Dana is seen in the role of an ugly duckling school girl who transforms herself into a charming young woman with an audacity that enables her on occasions to pose as a "wicked" vampire. This is an adaptation of H. V. Es- mond's famous drama, "Eliza Comes to Stay," and it gives Miss Dana the op- portunity of her career. The play tells the story of an orphan girl who is left as ward to a young bachelor. She learns that the bachelor believes her to be a young child, and in the hope that she will make a nui- sance of herself, she de'termines to go to him as such so that he will be glad to ship her back to school. But in the end she doesn't want to go back, as she is content with her new surround- ings.
