PHONE 2300 r AT THE ARCADE Today is the last showing of H. B Warner's picture, "The White Dove," at The Arcade. Playing the part of an English physician who learns of :tht unfaithfulness of his wife, Warner exhibits some fine acting, and the pic- ture as a whole is a good one. "The Desperate Hero," with Owen ;Moore as a star, which comes to The Arcade Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, has a title which aptly gives a clue to the plot. As a hero much in debt and more in love, Moore is beset with difficulties from the first of the film. It is only after a long run from his creditors and many farcical situations that he is able to clear himself in the proper manner. For a time it looks as if he had lost everything, but he manages to get out of the unfortunate "tuations, only, however, with more difficulty than he got into them. ,Gloria Hope plays opposite him as leading woman. Others in the cast are Henry Miller, Emmet King, and Arthur Hoyt. AT THE MAJESTIC Robert Warwick in "The Tree of Knowledge" is at the Majestic today for the last time. Robert Warwick, playing the role of manager of a friend's estate, finds himself in an awkward position, and for a time it appears as if he would have to forfeit the friendship of his employer and the love of a girl. "The' Cost" comes to the Majestic Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. with Violet Heming in the leading role. Miss Heming is an attractive actress, and she fills her role in tlis produc- tion in a most capable manner. This film Is a piturization of "The Cost," by David Grahamh Phillips. It is said to be theauthor's bst book, and it is filled with dramatic situa- tions which hold the attention of the audience from the first. Violet Heming played with -Cyril Maude in "Winning His Wife," one of the Women's 'War Relief pi'ctures which is being shown at The Majestic in connection with Robert Warwick's production; "The T'ree of Knowledge."
