Every day many canoes go up the river, and each of them passes a spot where a large number of tragedies have occurred. And there may be an- other tragedy, today, tomorrow, any time If a canoe should overturn near the old pulp mill this afternoon or tomor- row afternoon, the affair of early this summer would be repeated. No one would know where to get grappling hooks, and no one would know the whereabouts of a pulmoter. There would be just a lot of futile running about. If the boat club is too poor to do anything else, let it post a sign under the railroad bridge with the following data: 1. The nearest telephone. 2: The telephone number of Tess- mer's boat house, from which men experienced in life saving would come immediately. 3. The whereabouts of a pulmotor. Where to reach it by telephone. Once summoned, the Edison Co. will send It to the scene by auto in a very brief time. By posting such a sign, and placing a grappling hook for ready use under the railroad bridge, the tragedy of to- morrow afternoon may be averted. LEAGUE MANAGEMENT ISSUES FOLDER WITH SCHEDULE A large number of four page folders containing the schedule for the sum- mer session interdepartmental base- ball league, with other information, has been published by the manage- ment, and is being distributed among th students. A copy will be found in each num- ber of this issue of the Wolverine and the recipients are requested to pre- serve the booklets for future refer- ence. A number have also been plac- ed on the show cases of several State street store and customers may help themselves. All changes in the sched- ule as printed in the folders will be published in The Wolverine. FIRST "BLACK FLY" IS ISSUED Engineers Send Initial Number of Camp Newspaper The first issue of the "Black Fly" the weekly publication of the engi- neers at Camp Bogardus, has reached the Wolverine office. A cartoon fea- tures the front page, and shows a pros- pective engineer surrounded by camp paraphernalia and the flying squad- ron (mosquitoes). The issue was printed "by hand" on blue print paper, and with considerable difliculty, as the campers do not have much .spare time during the daylight hours. An attempt will be made this week to use electric light for printing and if successful this method will be used exclusively. OAR SWEATING BRAU TINKER & CO.
