(Business of hurling brick, a-la- Krasy Kat and Mutt and Jeff.) NEWBERRY NEWS (By Patricia) A little incident which occurred Sunday afternoon displayed the ingen- uity and likewise the ability of a certain young man abdut the camp- us. He met a nice girl at the dance a week ago and made a date for last Sunday. When he reached the door he discovered that he had, most unfortunately, forgotten the young lady's name. But when one of the girls answered the bell, without being fussed at all by his predica- ment he drew out his pencil and ask- ed for a piece of writing paper. On it he drew such a good likeness of the adored one that she was called at the first trial. ADD HORRORS OF WAR "What's the matter, Mike?" "Out of a job is all." "I thought you had a good job." "I did until the war broke out. But there's no call for my particular product any more." "Hard luck, old man. But I be- lieve I've forgotten what your job was." "I was pretzel bender at the Snow White bakery." ANOTHER EPILAFF. HERE LIES (In death as in life) M. G. H. THE IMMORTAL "Some men have greatness thrust up- on them." INSIDE DOPEv We were talking to a young mar- ried man the other day. He is prom- inent in student affairs so we dare not mention his name but the advice is just as good without it. "What's the best way to propose," we asked him. "Well, you go over to see her some nice evening and she's sitting on the sofa and you get down on one knee-" "Why one knee?" "Yes, you get down on one knee as if you were getting ready to start in a race-" "What's that for?" "So if she says 'No' you can get away." "Then how did you happen to be caught?" "I got stuck on a hat rack." Done into a Collum this Tuesday, August 21st, at the Ann Arborerium Pressicum by P. A. T. A. A. Ap- proximately a thousand people throng- ed the walks at the Michigan Central depot to greet the boys. The naval men are bound for a camp at Wake- field, Mass., where they will have some extensive training on the gov- ernment rifle range. The men, who left here just two months ago, all seem to be in ex- cellent condition physically and de- clare they enjoy the life of a naval militiaman. Just when they will be put into actual service is uncertain. From what could be learned at the station during the brief stop here, the majority of the men are anxious to get into actual service.
