Robert Dieterle, '18, was struck and hurled 15 feet yesterday when the bicycle on which he was riding collid- ed with an automobile at one of the corners of Liberty street where a pile of paving bricks piled alongside the street obscured the view. When struck, Dieterle grasped the hood of the machine, thus saving him- self from being dragged under the machine. Then his hold broke and he was hurled fifteen feet but alighted on his feet. Dieterle is a member of the Glee club. The machine which struck him was driven by Oscar Luick. "Deutches luaus" Makes lilt. Frau Palm today expressed herself as entirely satisfied with the way her plans for her "Deutches Haus" have worked out. The girls, she says, have been very willing to co-operate with her, and she feels that she has been able to help them a little at least. "Yes," she said, "it is hot, but I don't mind," and she smiled optimis- tically, "I'm too busy to notice. I have to get up at 5 o'clock, and don't get to bed till half past eleven, so I don't have time to notice the heat," and she laughed merrily. WANTED WANTED-Student man to run dish- washing machine. The building is, in part, the oldest of any state university structures in this country, and it is a favorite with many alumni. The building has undergone numerous revisions during the past several months, especially in south wing in which the stair cases and many of the rooms were reconstructed, and the entire section painted so as to look almost new. At present north wing is undergoing similar alterations, especially in the widening and rebuilding of the staircases which had been considerably worn down. The main corridors of University hall are also being repainted with a sort of cream colored tint. ,. E E P C O. O L Pure Home Made Ice Cream and Candies Seven kinds of Ice Cream Pint 15C Quart 25c! THE COCA-COLA CO. Atlanta, Ga. aga 'A ~ Hoop Skirts Come As Stairs Widen Way back somewhere in the seven- ties, when the regents of the Univer- sity were discussing the advisability of allowing women to matriculate in the various departments, it was said that, because, of the enormous hoop skirts the women were then wearing, they could never get up and down the narrow stairways of University Hail. But the objectionable feature soon conveniently disappeared, and femi- nism won its first victory on the campus. During the past few months, the staircases in the historic pile on the west side of the campus have been re- built, and in the north wing .are now being widened. With the possibility of hoop skirts again looming on the horizon, campus style fans are re- marking the appropriateness of the alterations. SWIltING POOL SWEPT WITH VACUUM CLEANER EVERY DAY The rumors vhich have been cir- culated of late questioning the sani- tary condition of the local swimming pool on Fifth avenue, have apparently no justifiable foundation. On the con- trary, the proprietor has been doing all within his power to keep the pool in the best condition, and is taking constant precautions against any dan- ger whatsoever. Every morning the pool has a com- plete "vacuum cleaning," which is done by means of a suction pump which goes over the whole bottom of the p ace, to remove any sediment which may have collected. The water is completely changed every 50 hours, and comes entirely from springs. A short time ago, the proprietor had a load of copper sulphate emptied into the water, which has served to loosen any growth from the bottom; and to destroy the insects which are to be found on the surface of-any such body of water.
