President Hutchins has just receiv- ed notice of two bequests to the uni- versity from former students. Jo- seph Bartholomew has bequeathed his estate for use in the educating of poor but worthy students, according to per tain provisions of the will. By these provisions a classical fellowship is really established, to be administered by the dean of the literary depart- ment and the professors of Latin, Greek, and English literature. The other bequest amounts to about $5,000. and comes from the estate of Miss Lelia Coolidge, a student in the liter- ary department from 1893 to 1896. It is to be used in the maintenance of free beds in the University hospital. Another bequest comes from Mr. J. A. Boyer, president of the Burroughs Adding Machine Co. Mr. Boyer has again shown his interest in the course in transportation given by Prof. H. C. Adams, by contributing $1,000 for the expenses incident thereto.
