A series of garden parties and dan- ces will be held at the Michigan Union every Friday evening from i:30 to 12 for the benefit of the summer students. Ike Fisher's band will have charge of the music. Walle Merritt Passes Through Town. Walle W. Merritt, '10-12 L, is in town for a few days on his way from Duluth, Minn., where he has been em- ployed by a law firm, to Cleveland, Ohio, where a new position awaits him. Merritt, who left the university a year ago before taking his law degree, was president of the Michigan Union, and prominent in all campus activities. Davenport Goes to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Arthur Davenport, '12 L, last se- mester's president of the Student Council, left this morning for Wilkes- Barre, Pa., where he will open a law office. POPULAR MICHIGAN MAN TO BE MARRIED WEDNESDAY Albert L. Weeks, '10, present city editor of the Detroit Morning News, will be married tomorrow to Miss Vera Jarvis of Detroit. While at Michigan Mr. Weeks was an active member of the Griffins, humor editor of the Gar- goyle, and a hard worker for the Union and the Union operas. Mr. Wees and his bride will take a short honeymoon trip on the great lake. Cutting Engagement Announced. The engagement of Southard J. Cut- ting, '06, to Miss Helen Shuman, of Covington, Ohio, was announced by Miss Shuman's parents on July 3.
