six, and the home hopes won.
Quakers Count First.
The visitors scored one in the fifth
inning, and with Sayre, their elongated
twirler working smoothly, that tally
loomed large. Minds, first up, drove a
clean double between Munson and
Captain Mitchell, Donovan followed
with a single into right. Munson
gathered in the ball and held it while
Minds rounded third. Then he threw
late to Rogers who let the horse hide
roll between his legs, and the Quaker
crossed the plate. With none out the
situation was still black but Baribeau
held the remaining visitor on third,
disposing of the next three batters.

empty with none down. Duncanson
produced a roller toward third on
which Coryell erred and gave another
opening. Duncanson stole and the vis-

into center field letting Dune move on

Wolverines Score First in Seventh.
The real excitement occurred in the
seventh. Munson started it with a hot
drive to Donovan that should have
been good for a hit. The Quaker short
made a great stop but his throw was
wide and pulled McNabb six inches off
the bag. His Majesty The Umps called
"Muns" out however and a riot threat-
ened to mature. Lavans found Sayre
for a clean single over the second
sack and then stole the bag. Rogers
made good in the pinch and produced
a single that allowed Lavans to sprint
home. Rogers moved down to second
on the play and was caught off, but
The Umps erred again by calling him
safe. That did the Quakers no harm
however as the next two died.
Bell's Hits Brings Victory.
Donovan robbed Duncanson of a hit
by sprinting past the second sack and
grabbing his drive which spoiled
Michigan's eighth inning rally. Mun-
son opened the next round with a
single but Lavans fanned, Rogers sent
Munson to his death at second and
Blackmore whiffed for the third out.
By the tenth it had begun to look as
though the Wolverines would strug-
gle till dark without penetrating the
Quaker defense. Pontius scared Sayre
into giving him his second pass but it
looked as though that advantage
would be of no avail when Baribeau
