A nine-game winner, Hyde came out of the bullpen in relief of starter Russ Kemmerer in the eighth inning to stop the threaten- ing Orioles. He mowed down six straight Baltimoreans. It was the 15th time this season that Hyde has been summoned in relief to successfully hold a Washington lead until the end of the game.
