VVa/l O lOy Music Conference To Meet "Teaching of Music in Second-i ary Schools," will be the topic ofr two summer music conferences toj be sponsored July 11 and 12 on campus by the University's Schoolt of Music and School of Education. Prof. David Mattern, professor of music education will act asf chairman of both conferences. 'Monday, June 11, will be devoted to the Summer Education Confer-t ence, sponsored by the School ofj Education and the School of Mu- sic. The highlights of the confer- ence schedule will include discus-1 sion on "Where Should We Be Go- ing in Music Education?" at 9 a.m. Monday in Schorling Auditorium, University High School. A discussion of teacher acereda- tion and certification at 11 a.m. will also be held in that room. Tuesday's Summer Session Con- ference, sponsored ,by the music education department of the School of Music, will feature dem- onstration lectures on the teach- ing of string instruments and string ensemble music. Dean Earl V. Moore of the mu- sic school will speak on "Music in the Next Decade" at a luncheon meeting of the conference. The comet will appear about two thirds of the way from the bowl of the Big Dipper to the bright star Capella. When the Big Dipper is on the horizon, Capella will be found higher in the sky and to the left, near the constella- tion Lazy W.
