Cali 2-6173. 1000 Hill St. Rained Out, Tigers Play Two Today BOSTON - (A') -Rains cooled Boston last night and washed out a scheduled game between the Red Sox and Tigers, but they didn't diminish one bit the heat that's on Detroit's new manager, Fred Hutchinson. Instead of nine games in eight days, the Tigers now must play nine in seven days, all of them with pennant contenders. Last night's washed out game will be played as part of a double-header today. *1* * AFTER THREE games in Bos- ton, the Tigers move into New York for a Sunday double-header with the Yankees and a single game Monday. Then they go to Washington for three straight night games with the Senators. Hutchinson has named Ted Gray (8-8) and Art Houtteman (4-11) to oppose the Red Sox in today's double-header. The Tigers and Red Sox have met 11 times thus far this season, and Boston has won nine times. S* * * "WE INTEND to change that," Hutchinson said determinedly. "and we'll be doing our darndest to do something we haven't done all year, too-win three in a row." The Tigers currently have a two-game winning streak going, having won twice immediately aft- er Hutchinson's appointment to succeed Rolfe last Saturday as manager.
