On the third floor of the Wom- en's League is a place made to order for such things-the League Library. THE ATMOSPHERE is quiet and informal. Men are not al- lowed in the Library. A homelike atmosphere is cre- ated with an old fashioned fire- Dances S lated Each Weekend Shall we dance? Students who bemoan the lack of social life on campus during the summer need lament no more because they may attend the regu- lr Friday and Saturday night in- formal dances in the League Ball- room. Stag or drag, couples can "trip the light fantastic" from 9 p.m. to midnight to the rhythm of the new Musicon sound system. Women who wish to act as hos- tesses to help mix those attending stag, may sign up at 8:45 on the evening of the dance they wish to attend, in the tUndergraduate Of- floe of the League. They will re- ceive name tags bearing their first name. n Hostesses are admitted free of charge, while others are assessed 30 cents per person. "The Musicon is even better than an orchestra," said Alice Platt, publicity chairman of the League, "because it doesn't rest between numbers or go out for a coke during intermission." . place, cushioned chairs, tables, carpeted floors, and the tradi- tional book-lined walls. Main purpose of the library is to provide recreational and cul- tural reading. The shelves include a large collection of books dealing with drama, poetry, and fiction. * * * A NUMBER of volumes have been donated to the Library by various social groups. One thousand books were giv- en in honor of Dr. Jessie Horton Koessler, a distinguished Mich- igan Alumnae. The library was financed and furnished in her memory by her husband and brothers. Her portrait, donated by her son, now hangs above the fireplace. Dr. Koessler, who studied medicine at the University, designed a color- ful pictorial map of Ann Arbor to help raise money to build the pres- 'ent League building. * * * MANY CURRENT popular mag- azines are also available at the Library. Most fiction books cir- culate for two weeks. Library hours are from 1 to 5:30 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m., weekdays, and 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. Sundays. During the fall and spring se- mesters, weekly Friday evening record concerts are held in the Library. Coeds may bring dates and smoking is also permitted at this time. While listening to the music, students may follow the scores of the pieces or read through the many biographies of the com- posers. I JANET CONROY WILL MARRY-Mr. and Mrs. James M. Conroy of Moorestown, N.J. have announced the betrothal of their daughter, Janet E., to Louis G. Maier of St. Petersburg, Fla. Miss Conroy, a junior in the literary college, is affiliated with Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Mr. Maier, a member of Phi Kappa Sigma, is a senior in chemical engineering.
