JULY 23, 1941 THE MICHIGAN DAILY _ y Scout Leaders Will Convene Here Friday Group Will Hold Meetings At Kellogg Foundation To Discuss Problems Scout leaders throughout Michigan will convene in Ann Arbor Friday and Saturday for the Scouting Insti- tute, to be held at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Institute under the spon- sorship of the Extension Service. Designed specifically for lay and professional men interested in the scouting movement, the Institute will discuss some of the current problems involved in the handling of boys of scout age. The University, as sponsors of scouting in Michigan, will play host to the convention here this week. Lecturers scheduled by the Friday sessions of the Institute will include C. J. Carlson, Chicago scout execu- tive, Fobert C. Reusch, Detroit field executive, Walter MacPeek, local scout executive, Clarence Neitz, ex- ecutive from Lansing, M. G. Clark, Grand Rapids executive, A. J. Junk- er, Jackson executive, Ernest H. Chapolle, Ypsilanti and Herbert Saum, Lansing executive. A trip to the new Detroit Council camp near Howell will feature the afternoon activities of the Institute. Ford L. Lemler of the extension serv- ice will present an illustrated lec- ture on scouting Friday night. League Group Will Sponsor Dance To day Girls of the Summer League Coun- cil will be the hostesses at the "Come As You. Are" tea dance, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today in the League Ballroom. Guests are asked not to change from saddle shoes and sport shirts to heels and neckties, and tennis and golf outfits will not be in the least irregular. This dance, which is com- plimentary to allSummer Session students, is an all-campus affair for fun, entertainment and relaxation! Hostesses numbering 36 will be on1 the floor, identified by name tags in the shape of miniature masks, to in-1 troduce students arriving without partners and in general to promote mixers of various sorts. There will be a reversal of the cus- tomary dance floor practice this timel -the girls are making this week's tea dance a girl's "robber" dance in re- sponse to requests from a number of men.
