In the upper bracket Jim Watkins and Clinton Crooks are matched against Ken Wax and Dave Goldring in the first round. Winner of the match is to take on Nichols and Michelson in the semi-finals. Steve Kionoski* Golf Favorite Steve Klonoski seems determined to take the Intramural golf ' chaim- pionship for the second straight year. Defending champion in the event, he toppled E. H. McLaughlin from his path in the third round of the championship flight yesterday to go into the quarter-finals. Only a few other matches have been played so far in the third rounds of both the championship and first flights of the tournament, but most of the second rounds matches are completed. Intramural officials ex- pect most of the third round matches to be over by Tuesday, so that the quarter-finals can begin either on that date or Wednesday. In matches played in the second round of the championship flight, Q. O. Gilbert downed Chuck Holton, 3-2, Bill Poppink took Ed Zahn, 6-5, and Casey Carter defeated J. R. Law- son, 7-6. Gilbert will now meet J. B. Johnson to see who will battle Klo- noski in the quarter-final, while Poppink will meet Fred Dannenfelser in what promises to be a feature match. Carter will take on R. B.
