Johns, lawyer of Al- goma, Wis., was elected president of Kiwanis International at the Los Angeles convention of the or- ganization League Contract Bridge To Commence Tomorrow The first of a series of six con- tract bridge lessons sponsored by the League will be held at 7:30 p. m. tomorrow it was announced yester- day by Ann Mitchell who will be in charge of the affairs. John Matthes will instruct all those who wish to attend, it was said. A charge of 25 cents per lesson will be made. The lessons will be held at the same time every Wednesday night. EDUCATION CLUB TO MEET Members of the Women's Educa- tion Club and their friends will be entertained at 7:15 p. in. tomorrow at a garden party at the League. In- vitations have been extended to all students and women of the faculty interested in education. Meader Will Lecture On Teachings Of Tolstoy Dr. Clarence L. Meader, professor of Latin, Sanskrit, and general lin- guistics, will speak at 5 p. ri. Friday in Natural Science Auditorium on Tolstoy's teachings. The lecture is a part of the summer program of the Toystoy League, a campus organiza- tion having for its purpose the ac- quainting of students with the re- ligio-philisophical doctrines of Count Leo Toystoy. Professor Meader is a prominent linguist, credited with having a read- ing and speaking knowledge of more than 100 languages. He recently mas- tered two foreign languages in two days. REEVES RECEIVES HONOR Prof. Jesse S. Reeves, chairman of the political science department, has received the honorary degree of Doc- tor of Laws at Williams College, it was learned yesterday. Professor Reeves is William W. Cook Profes- sor of American Institutions in the University. SOUTHERN CLUB TO MEET Members of the Southern Club, an organization of students and faculty members who have lived in the South, will meet for the first time during the Summer Session at 7:30 p, m. tomorrow on the front steps of Angell Hall. Officers have urged that all southerners attend the program planned for the meeting.
