Illini Varsity To Have Many Practised Men CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Aug. 16-Count- ing noses with the opening of foot- ball practice only a month away, Coach Bob Zuppke finds that he can look to a large group of experienced players as a nucleus for the 1933 Illinois varsity. Gil Berry is the greatest loss from last year's team which came back so successfully in the final lap of the season that Zuppke believes Illinois football is definitely looking up. Pete Yanuskus, Ack Bodman, Joe Van Dyke and Bob Green are the other lettermen who have passed off the scene. This leaves 19 lettermen, Capt. Walser Froschauer, Beynon, Craven, Seamans, Snook,. Abraham, Bennis, Cummings, Bloom, Gragg, May, Ko- walski, Petty, Hoeft, Schustek, Rus- sell, Straw and Van Meter. There may be one or two losses from this group but there will also be Frink, end, who was benched by an injury. last year, Cook, Snavely, Platt, Hedtke and O'Neill, who won letters in 1931. Such squadsmen as Fischer and Portman, outstanding backs in spring practice, Gibbs, quarterback, Mon- sson, tackle, Chuck Andrews and Al Adams, backs, oward Johnson and Bill Kurtz, guards and Harry Palmer, tackle, will also be possibilities. Bill Charle, a halfback with abun- dant spirit but a jinx * that has thwarted his ambitions in the past, will return. Anong the newcomers in varsity competition talked of are Arvo An- tilla, tackle, Whiting, Ind., Bill Wal- ler, end, Benton and Bob Wright, center, Roodhouse. If George Hays, Decatur, and Les Lindberg, Lockport, are available, they are expected to make strong bids for the back field. Zuppke will soon-issue his annual call, urging all candidates to be here ready to begin practice bright and early Sept. 15. FAMED MODEL EXHIBITED CHICAGO, Aug. 16.-Architects, visiting A Century of Progress-the Chicago World's Fair-always make it a special point to visit the Swedish Building to inspect the wooden model of the famed City Hall of Stockholm. It is an exact miniature of Rogner Ostberg's architectural masterpiece and was constructed especially. for the Exposition by the eminent Swed- ish sculptor, Aron Sandberg. The model is of cedar, about five or six feet square, with the tower between four and five feet in height.
