The Spotlight Yes, I am back. Dean Kraus de- cided that he just couldn't run he summer school without me. But do yous know, if somebody hadn't assured me that this ac- tually was Ann Arbor, I never would have recognized it. Whata change. You know, "The same old moon, the same old pine, but not the same old Ann Arbor"_ Why even a blind man walking down State street could have felt the difference. And imagine my surprise to find that more than a week had passed and nobody knew anything about anybody! Well I decided that would never do. It would have been tragic to miss out on meet- ing your life mate just because no proper means of introduction had been offered. Hence the mixer. The faculty think it is a reception, but that's all right, you have to call it some- thing. (You see I'm just giving you a little inside dope). And to all events and purposes, it seems to prove a huget success. At least most everybody left In couples, that is, everyone but me. True, some of them seemed to be mis-mated but no doubt they will attend to that later. After all, you can't do everything in one evening, even in summer school. The reason I didn't get "my man ' was due to one of two things. Either that I didn't join the Royal Mounted early enough in life, or because of the position I held while at the reception. Now this idea of position being all in life is bunk. Because I was one of the charming hostesses that you read so much about. Anyhow I had to tell them, all then good places to go, and what to do when they got there. And I guess they were so satisfied that they never came back. But I am still big hearted enough to wish you successful ones all the luck in the world. And from what I have seen around here, you will probably need it. May your line hold out until August 23. The author's favorite chair will occupy the center of the platform, to the lay eye empty but to his devotees occupied by the spirit of the man who created Sherlock Holmes, and who died Monday. Lady Doyle, his widow, will sit at the left side of the chair, a place she always occupied during her husband's public lectures. She was said today to regard this as the last public demonstration that she would attend with him. DINE and DANCE! DAILY NO COVER CHARGE Sunday Dinner 11:00 a. m. to 8:00 a. m.
