Y 6, 1930 TIM SUMMER A? RICAN DAILY Y 6,1080 THE SUMMER MICHIGAN DAILY FASHION PLATE One of the principal consider- ations in assembling a summer wardrobe is to obtain sport clothes which are both smart and comfort- able. For golf and tennis the tra- ditional outfit is a one piece dress or skirt with a tuck in blouse. Soft woolens are the favorites for golf, but in very warm weather shan- tung, tussor, or toile de sole are more comfortable. They are usu- ally belted and the skirt must be wide enough to allow a natural stance. The virtues of white cotton pique have been exploited this season by most of the designer~s to make ten- nis dresses of the plain, sleeveless type that reach just below the knee. Tucks, pleats, and clever seams are used to give individual- ity. Bathing suits are more decor- ous but still swimmable. The smart swimmer no longer flaunts her athletic prowess, the shorts of her suit are cut to give the effect of a skirt, plaited on the sides and tied around the waist. Pique, linen, and shantung are the most practical for beach py- jamas and overalls, and awning striped materials are used for ac- cessories. Bags are very large this year, and will hold a suit, purse,I cigarettes, and a book. Wide, floppy hats of linen are newer than straw and more practical. Sports frocks that can be worn to classes are shown in crepe, silk pique, silk and wool etamine, tus- sor, some of them piped with col- lor and worn with colored belts. There frocks are usually sleeveless, belted at the natural waist, with comfortable short, full skirts. Other sports models have simple skirts and short Eton jackets of tweed, showing the s w e a t e r-. blouse below their edges in a band round the top of the hips. Edm onson Will Lecture Before Education Club Meeting regularly for the first time since their organization, the Educational clubs of the Summer Session will convene tomorrow evening.
