PLANS ANNOUNCED-
Professor Olson. Explains Aim
of University's New Plan
for Child Education.
TO OPEN SEPTEMBER 30
Schedules for and information
petaining to the University's new
elementary school for groups of
children of nursery school and kin-
degarten ages have been issued by
Prof. Willard C. Olson, director of.
research in child development in
the School of Education. Septem-
ber 30 has been set as the date of
the opening of the school.
Profesor Olson explained that ad-
ditonal classes in different grades
wwld be opened in the futum to
kaep pace with the progress of
th'se who enroll in September and
tai. take care of additional appl-
carts.
According to th plan, two and
three-year-old children will attend
the school from 9 o'clock in the
mrning <to3:4oc is in the af-
teroon. Lun~ andr a rest period
will be providpA for tha group. The
for-year-old hildn will attend
from 9 o'clok.tonon and the five
yearolds from-1to 4o'clock.
No fee is to be charged to cover
thw cstw f n, utin, buta.sced-
ule of service charges has been
drawn~ up to take care -of the cost
of food, laundry and supplies. A
charge of $50 per semester for two
and three-year-olds on a.full dfy
session is now planned,' fouryear-
olds will attend the morning ses-
sions only for $15 per semester. The
$15 rate also wil apply to five-year-
old children who attend only the
afternoon sesions.
Fees will be payable at the begin-
ning of the semester and are sub-

SUFFERS LOSSES
Many Valuable Books Donated,
by Alumnae Removed.
Books are disappearing from the
shelves of the library in the League
building and, according to Cecilia
Shriver, '31, summer chairman of
the League library, this fact is
probably the result of a misunder-
standing of the rules of the library.
Free. access to all the shelvesj
which are always open- is afforded:
all women, but with the under-
standing that the volumes will not'
be removed from the room. Many
of the books are of great value and
have been . donated to the League
through the kindness of alumnae,
students, and organizations,. it is
therefore hoped that books which
have been removed from the shel-
ves by mistake will be returned im-
mediately.

TO HOLDTRYOUTS
Athletic Fraternity Announces
Eligibility Trials.
Announcement of try-outs for
eligibility for, admission, to Sigma
Delta Psi, national honorary ath-
letic fraternity, was .made yesterday
afternoon by Paul, R; Washke, assis-
tant director of Intramural sports.
The. try-outs are open to any
man. in the University who is inter-
ested. They will be held on Mon-
days,. and Wednesdays from 2
o'clock until 6 o'clock. The regula-
tions require for full membership:
a running high jump of 5 feet; a
running broad jump of 17 feet, a
shot put (16 pounds) of 30 feet, a
pole vault of 8 1-2 feet, a baseball
throw of 250 feet,. the 100_ yard dash
,in 11 3-5 seconds, the 22 low hurdles
in 31 seconds, the mile run. in 6
minutes, and a 100 yard swim in 1
minute, and. 45 seconds. A varsity:
letter may be substituted for any;
of these except swimming.
All men interested' should see
Tom- Prouse, whot will be in charge
of the-trials. These are designed as
tests of physical ability in track,:
field, and swimming. A certain:
standard of scholarship is also re-
quired,

From Women's Courts
Announcement has been made by
the physical education department
that men will not be allowed on the
tennis courts at Palmer field from
8 o'clock until noon in the morn-,
ing or from 2 to 6 o'clock in the'
afternoon. This means also that
they are not to play in mixed
games. .-
The courts will be open all day
and the nets will be up at 7:30 0'-
clock in the morning and will be
taken down at 8:30, o'clock at
night. There will not be an instruc-
tor on the courts as there will be
at the Union pool.
