Kraus aination Schedule: 'he examinations to be given at the close of the eight lweeks ses- will be conducted on Thursday and Friday, August 15 and 16, in , accordance with the following schedule: LECTURES ON ADVERTISING AUTOS PROMOTERS OF FAMILY LIFE, DECLARES STUDEBAKER PRESIDENT Albert Russel Erskine, president of the Studebaker Corporation, does not believe that the automo- bile is the detrimental influence which so many modern writers would have us think. He contends, in an article published by the North American Review, that rather it is' a contributor to the biological pro- gress of the American people. The conventional picture of mod- ern family life, which every day is' urged upon us, is not the result of investigations into actual causes,I Erskine asserts, but it merely an outgrowth of divorce statistics. Er- skine contends that divorce is just as the laws of a state make it, and cites divorceless Georgia and tur- bulent Nevada as examples of what laws can do. He disclaims respon- sibility on the part of the ma- chine. Erskine states that the registra- tion of every seventh automobile gives employment to one man, out- side the manufacturing field of the industry. Thus, more potential founders of families are finding employment with each annual in- crease of automobile registrations. Urbanization has been one of the greatest menaces to proper family life during recent years. Erskine points out the fact that the auto has made possible a decentraliza- tion which could not have been I achieved before its use. The move- ment toward the suburbs has been accompanied by the increased building of on-family homes, and by an increase in enrollment in schools, including colleges. This, Erskine thinks, is adequate proof of the fallacy of the danger of the automobile as a menace to monog- amy and the family. .1 s r ' ;:s HALLE RS STATE STREET JEWELERS At Liberty Street Prof. John L.
