Dr. Walter Williams, founder and dean of the 20-year old Missouri school, is sponsoring the support. Ver~non Nash, who received the bach- elor of journalism degree here in 1914, heads the Chinese school. He became chairman of the journalism depart- ment in 1924, when it was started. Back on furlough this year, Nash has organized Muszuli-Yenching Hui '(the Missouri- Yenching association) for the purpose of gaining financial aid of students, faculty members and alumni of the University of Missouri. He plans to return in August, to in- aggurate the extensive program. fjom several American newspaper publishers to contribute $1,000 each annually to the Chicago institution to guarantee- the minimum operating budget in the first five years. The American Society of Newspaper Edi- tors voted $1,000 from its treasury to the fund, and civic clubs have pledged dents will be used to. maintain re- ciprocal graduate scholarships in the two schools. Nash, a Rhodes scholar, served in Y. M. C. A. work in the Far East during the world war and has had several years' newspaper experience. A need for rapid expansion of journalism in China, he says, has fol- lowed a great simplification of the Chinese written language, TYPEWRITER RIBBONS and SUPPLIES For All Makes Riapid Turnover lInsures Fresh Stock and Best Quality 0.
