CLEO MURTLAND THINKS WOMEN'S I BUILDING BOON T O SUMMER SCH#OOL "I believe that the Women's League Building with its varied opportunities for social and professional gatherings will be the means of drawing the women students of the summer ses- sion more directly into the student body of the university in a way that will make the social life of the sum- mer student more satisfactory than it has been and give them a great sense of being a part of khe pniver- sity," says Miss Cleo Murtland, asso- ciate Professor of Vocational Educa- tion in the University of Michigan. "Becajse of the shortness of the ses- sions many people do not realize that the summer session women students need a place for both social and pro- fessional gatherings which the new Women's League Building will fill." Many summer school students are not as a general rule enrolled in the regular sessions of the college year. They are only here during their va- cation from whatever work they may be doing, such as schoo teaching, which includes supervisors, princi- pals, and college instructors, or pub- lic health nursing, or vocational work of some sort. By being here only in the summer they know little of what is going on during the winter. With no general place of getting together their interests will not lie on the campus. They will meek their re- creation elsewhere. But with the com- pletion of the Women's League Build- ing there will be a place where the CUBAN CONVICTS TO AID'SCIENCE (By Associated Press) HAVANA, Aug. 7.-Cuban convicts sentenced to die would have their choice of death by strangulation or submitting to inoculation with deadly cancer virus in the interest of science under the terms of an extraordinary measure now up for final decision.
