Music And Drama (Continued from Page Three) It has sold to the extent of more than 3,000,000 copies, and has been trans- lated into nearly every foreign lan- guage. As it is included in the curri- culum of public schools, the big de- mand for matinee seats has influenced Miss Bonstelle to offer an extra per- formance on Tuesday afternoons dur- ing the engagement, making Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday matinees. "Little' Women" is the story of an American family, taken fromy actual life, relating the adventures of the Marches, particularly those of the four girls, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. It tells of their childish pranks, heart- aches, sacrifices for their parents, their loves, romances, and the death' of Beth. Miss Bonstelle, who plays Mother March, hastbrought Jessie Royce Landis to Detroit to play the role of Jo. This is the thirteenth production of the play which Miss Bonstelle has directed. GARIRICK THEATRE Anne Nichol's production of "Abie's Irish Rose" has established a new long-run record for Detroit, now starting op its ninth week at the Garrick eater and continuing in- definitely. Matinees will be on Wed- nesdays and Saturdays. The cast is the original Chicago company intact, and includes Harry Garrity, the only surviving member of the genuine "original cast," who appeared in the show when it opened in Los Angeles four years ago. He has never played in a New York cast. Only one or two of the conpany appearing in "Abie and Rose" i New York remain. The original or- ganization, with many big Broadway names, nearly failed, but after Miss Nichols dismissed these celebrities and picked an entirely unknown group, the show became a hit with big runs in Chicago and New York.
