The reason for this is due to the numerous applications of young men who desire :o enter some branch of the service. Hie Marine Corps, at present, has op- onings for a limited number of men1 As each recruiting district can ac-I ,ept only a limited number of men wvho are making their first applicationE 'or service, the vacancies are being rapidly filled and it is probable that within a short period only men with previous service will be accepted. Any young man of good character who is fairly robust, has a chance to qualify, and can learn full particulars by ap-l .,ying at the Marine Corps RecruitingE station, 508 Equity Building, Detroit, ;.,Hhigan. In a recent phamphlet issued by the ecruiting Bureau, Sgt. John L. Prater .f the U. S. Marines, gives some of hisI xpcricnces and travels while he was n the service. "My travels with the Marines began in 1903. Since that time I believe I have visited every port in the world where a ship could cast ancho-'. I have been in countries seldom visited by a white man, have sailed over, iuooth tropical seas, and have travel- ed on vessels that had to buffet their way out of ice-bound harbors. I have looked at the snow-capped peak of Mount FuJiyama in Japan, and visited the diamond mines in South Africa.
