This examination will be open to all class- es of eligibles for appointment, and appointments will be tendered suc- cessful candidates shortly. before Dec. 31, 1922. Vacancies exist in each of the fol- lowing branches: Infantry, cavalry, field artillery, coast artillery, engineer corps, air service, signal corps, quart- ermaster corps, ordnance department, chemical warfare service, finance de- partment, and Philippine scouts. Applications should be submitted on the prescribed form to the command- ing general, Sixth corps ares, 1819 West Pershing road, Chicago, Ill., or to the professor of military science and tactics, University of Michigan, room 220, Enginering building, Ann Arbor, Mich. Forms may be obtained from either of these offices or from the adjutant general of the army, Wash- ingtan, D. C. Eligibility for appointment is fixed by law, and candidates must be citiz- ens of the United States between 21 and 30 years of age. At the time of the final examination each candidate must be in one of the following class- es: (a) A warrant officer or enlisted man of the regular army with not less than two years' service. (b) A reserve officer or a member of the enlisted reserve corps. (c) An officer, warrantaofficer, or enlisted man of the National guard. (d) A graduate of the University. Civilians who pass the preliminary examination may become eligible for the final examination by entering eith- er class (b) or (c). The preliminary examination in- quires into the physical moral and -mental qualifications of candidates, The final examination is the same for all candidates and consists (1) an ele- mentary part embracing history, gram- mar, geography, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trignomentary, and physics, and (2) an advanced part embracing a large number of subjects (mathemat- ics, mechanics; surveying, languages, I AT TalE THEATERS t literature, chemistry, law, minor tac- tics) from which the candidate chooses three in which he is examined. Liberal exemptions are granted to candidates according to their educa- tion ,training, and experience .
