Hindus were surely justfied in reputing the false' charges hurled upon them, and The Summer Daily will surely allow us to present both sides of the ques- tion. Surely no unbiased mind will see any wrong in this. In spite of this the University officials did give a little hint to the Hindu students to take care in the future, but certainly no sane mind would expect the au- thorities to interfere with the.personal affairs of the students as long as there is no interference in the Uni-' versity policy. No doubt the Hindus s well as the other foreign students are proud of the University of Michigan for the conveniences and opportunities it af- affords them, but to say that Hindus are given special advantages is an- other creation of a prejudiced mind, nay, in some cases certain misunder- standings because of the different ed- ucation system of India have caused the Hindu student to suffer in his studies. From my observations I have found that the University of Michigan wel- comes foreig- students without any distinctions and will attempt to' in- fuse in them, as it has done in the past, the free and democratic spirit of America. A significant beginning towards an effort to help society grow up is to be seen in a certain tendency which is now showing Itself in education. From the University of Edinburgh comes word of the founding of a new de- partment of research and knowledge, -the study of the interconnection be- tween the various activities in human society. In our country we have re- cently begun to lay some stress on this phase of education. We have come to French Chocolate and Pineapple Ice Cream Week-End .... To attack the fair name of Michigan for producing .honest and truth- speaking students seems the outcome of a narrow, prejudiced and biased mind rather than a liberal one. Yes, Michigan and many other American universities with democratic spirit take pride in having students who are pro-justice, pro-righteousness and pro-freedom and anti-prejudice, anti- oppression and suppression, anti-in- justice, anti-insincerity and hypoc- risy, and lastly, anti-humbug which is blinding many millions of human be- ings who, if given proper opportuni- ties for right development, would doubtless make some of the best cit- izens of the world.
