Saturday Phone NO2-3241 The Ann Arbor Planning Com- mission has been asked by the City' Council to restudy proposals for a new zoning classification. In a 6-5 vote at Monday night's meeting, the council turned back to them six questions about the proposed 'B-3' category, to which they have been asked to recom- mend answers. The council also requested a roll-call vote on each question. The proposed ordinance change would provide a elassification for apartment houses with commercial facilities. At present, there is no regulation for this type of project. Project Brings Proposal The proposal grew out of the plans of a. Detroit construction firm to erect such a development, a $4,700,000 project to be built south of Fuller St. across from the Veterans Administration Hospital. The council decided to wait for the Planinng Commission's answers fore taking any action. Some of the questions which the commission is required to answer involve the necessity of any new zoning category; the desirability of combining apartment dwellings before taking any action. these were answered positively, the amount of commercial usage to be permitted in relation to the dwell- ing units. Other questions had to do with the density of land use: the maxi- mum in relation to the number of people, and the relative merit of the density requirement in the ordinance as it now stands. The j desirability of allowing parking in the froirt and side yards also will come under consideration. Ronald E. Hinterman a J. Burns. As at last week's m proposal was up for fir Planning Departmen Ray C. Eastman, hor hinted that a formal c recommendation at th unlikely. Such action c taken if six of the nin of the commission vote firmative.
